Houston Tumescent Liposuction Technique

Every year hundreds of thousands of people across America, both male and female, have liposuction.  In the past liposuction was preformed by a surgeon without the use of Tumescent Fluid.  Aspirating the fat without the use of this fluid created a large amount of blood loss and thus created a larger possibility of complications.  The Tumescent Liposuction Technique, also known as the Wet Technique, minimizes blood loss, reduces bruising, pain and swelling.  The fluid consists of a combination of saline, lidocaine and epinephrine. This fluid is injected into the area of liposuction just prior to the actual suctioning of the fatty tissue. 

The tumescent liposuction technique has many benefits with few drawbacks.  However, it is important to know that lidocaine and epinephrine are powerful pharmaceuticals.  When seeking out a surgeon to perform your liposuction be sure he/she is board certified plastic surgeon and has earned the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).
